Fort Milford
Fort Milford is a small but historically significant fort located in Crown Point, Tobago. Originally built by the British in 1777, the fort was part of their coastal defense system during the colonial era. It was later abandoned and partially destroyed by the French in 1781, but remnants of the fort still stand today.
Though not as large as Fort King George, Fort Milford offers well-preserved cannons, stone fortifications, and beautifully landscaped gardens. The site overlooks the Caribbean Sea, providing stunning views, especially at sunset. Its peaceful setting makes it a great place to relax, take in some history, and enjoy Tobago’s coastal beauty.
Due to its proximity to the airport and popular beaches like Store Bay and Pigeon Point, Fort Milford is easily accessible and a great quick stop for visitors interested in Tobago’s colonial past. It’s a charming historical site that combines military history with breathtaking scenery.
