I have some of those you mention socanatix, it could use as an motion detector, it works great - takes snap-shots or small recording if it sense movement in an area you point it.

i have one that have zoome features and allows me to make small videos then i also have de actual sony handicam or whatever it calles besides de webcam.......to edit de video fromde cam cam does take a long time depending on how much footage u have and sotrage space.

Good idea, have anybody notice these web cams prices going up.
